We (subject to contract) bought a house!

We have offered and had accepted a bid on a house in Low Fell, Gateshead.
It’s a big house, but it’s a bit shambolic, it needs ten years of lost love pouring back into it, but we got it at a price that should allow Ann to rip out the kitchen/diner/utility, build a new master bedroom, put in a new boiler, a new bathroom, relay the patio and drive, change the staircase, and replace the porch and fascia with something that is less aluminium 1970s. [Gosh that is a project.]
It’s a 6 minute walk to Low Fell High Street, with regular buses to Newcastle. 5-6 minutes by car is the Metro Centre. I may also may be able to yomp to Fellings Metro if I want a longer walk at the beginning or end of the day.
It’s in a Virginmedia area for broadband and TV.
The garden is mature and yet huge (0.5 acre), also needs some steps relaying and quite a few trees felling (it also has 3 lovely protected trees I wouldn’t dream of losing). It’s south facing and not overlooked. There is loads and loads of opportunity for gardening and growing crops and it’ll keep me very happy.

So.. we didn’t downsize into a bungalow, we didn’t move to Monkseaton on the Metro line, we didn’t buy just next to Nun’s Moor in the little nice bit of Fenham, and we crossed the river to Gateshead. We did view 75+ houses and now have an understanding of Newcastle and Gateshead we never had before.

We have a big house with great views of trees, some houses and the Team Valley beyond.

We’ll be very busy with builders for a goodly while!
